What is a Qatar ID (QID)?
QID is the identification card issued by the Government of Qatar Ministry of Interior to all citizens and people from abroad residing in the country. It is a valid permit for people from abroad to live in the country. It serves as a National card for citizens of the country. QID is required for anyone who wants to access government or private services in the country. Ministry of Interior Qatar ID Check
By using the Ministry of Interior online portal you can check Qatar ID. The process only takes 5 minutes you just need a good internet connection and an electronic device. Follow the below simple steps to check your Residence Permit status.
1. Go to the official website of the Ministry of Qatar and click the MOI services options. It will be on the right side of the Home option.
2. As you click on the MOI services option a drop-down menu will open click on the first option of inquiries.
3. AS you click on the inquiries option a page will open scroll a little bit and click on the option of other inquiries as shown in the image below.
4. Now click on the first option of official documents as shown in the image below. A form will open on your screen.
5. Enter your Residence Permit QID number in the first field, Enter the required Captcha, and click submit.
The system will get the status of your Qatar ID and display it on your screen.
Qatar ID Check Status Meaning
When you check your QID using the Ministry of Interior website you may see various messages. Below is the detail of the messages and their meaning.
Active: Your QID is valid and you can continue to use it.
Cancelled: The QID has been canceled. This can happen due to visa cancellation, employer change, or exit from the country.
Expired: If your ID is expired you need to review it as soon as possible.
Ready for Collection: Your QID is printed and you can collect it from the designated MOI service center.
Under Process: This means your ID application is in process and the documents provided are pending review.
Application Approved: The application is approved and your ID will get printed soon.
No Data Found: This message may mean that the details you entered are incorrect. Double check the entered Qatar ID and submit again.
Qatar ID Check by MOI Qatar Mobile App
To check the Residence Permit online on your mobile device you can download the MOI Qatar App available on Apple and Play Store, Once the app is downloaded follow the steps below to check Qatar ID.
- Log in to the app using your credentials. If you don’t have an account sign up first and then log in with the same details
- Go to the Inquiries option on the MOI Qatar Mobile app.
- Click on the ID card inquiry option.
- Enter your Qatar ID number. The system will display the details of your ID information.

Qatar ID check MOI Service Centers
Checking the QID through the website of the Ministry of Interior is the most convenient way. If you prefer physically visiting the MOI service center you are welcome to do so. Follow the below given steps:
- Visit your nearest or nay MOI service center.
- Go to the reception and tell them your intention for the Qatar Resident Card check.
- Provide your Requested ID details and Passport.
- Get the results of your Qatar Resident Card check from the reception.

You can also call the Ministry of Interior helpline for your Qatar ID check. Call the MOI Qatar at 2342000 or 2367111. Inform them of the purpose of your calling. They will ask for your passport number and Qatar ID for verification. They will check the details along with the system and provide the status of your Qatar Resident Card promptly.
Qatar ID Number Structure
QID is an 11-digit number and each digit describes the following details.
- The First Digit provides the details of Residency/ Citizen status. The 2 is used for persons from outside of the country and 1 is used for Qatar Citizens.
- The digit number from 2-10 in Qatar visa is a unique serial number that varies from person to person.
- Qatar ID is a random number which didn’t encode any birth date or years.
Qatar ID Feeses
Qatar Resident Card feeses varies with type of ID. The fee for New Qatar ID, Renewal of Qatar ID, Lost QID replacement are different. Below are the details of the feeses charged for these Qatar ID services.
- New Qatar Resident Card (for expatriates) can be from QAR 100 – QAR 500
- Renewal of Qatar Identification Card for one year can cost QAR 500
- For the replacement of Lost/Damaged QID fee is QAR 200
- The fee of company sponsored QID is paid by the employer.
